Traffic Tickets / Traffic Violations
Traffic tickets vary from violations that are considered minor infractions to more serious traffic offenses that are categorized as misdemeanors and felonies.
Infractions, Misdemeanors, Felonies
Minor traffic violations include mechanical and moving violations. More serious traffic offenses that are misdemeanor charges include driving while revoked or suspended, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without insurance, to name a few. Misdemeanors may be penalized by a jail sentence of up to a year. Subsequent offenses carry more severe penalties. Traffic felonies are charged when a person is injured or killed as a result of a traffic violation. Penalties for traffic violations may result in loss of license, higher insurance rates and substantial fines. Felony traffic violations may result in imprisonment.
Traffic Defense
Hiring an attorney can assist you in getting a traffic warrant lifted, a traffic charge lessened or possibly even dismissed. We can advise you of your constitutional rights. In more serious traffic violations, because these are criminal cases, clients have all the rights afforded a defendant under criminal law, which includes the right to legal representation and trial by jury.
